Here is my original thread from a week ago

I just thought I would update a little bit. I am feeling much more positive. I have read and read on the subject and just can't believe how little I knew about the dogs system and what they need. I will never feed dry food again. I fed James Wellbeloved so not cheap. I have now moved her on to fresh meat, i have done nothing but cook chicken, lambs heart, beef, broccoli, green beans. I have spent a fortune in Holland and Barret on milk thistle, pycogonel, fish oil capsules, red clover, astragalus, she also has turmeric, ginger, garlic. another combo that has had good results is cottage cheese with flaxseed oil in it so that is her brekkie and she loves it. She also gets a bit of oily fish for the omega3.
It is all about turning her system from acid to alkaline, cutting down on carbs and sugar as they feed cancer, strengthening the immune system so her system can fight the cancer. also some of these things have been proved to shrink the tumours. I actually shake when I am adding the supplements, I think it is just because it brings it back and how important it is. I have one more thing coming from germany which is an immune strengthening thing with reishi mushrooms in.
The supplements just get added directly to her feed and she just downs the lot and licks the dish clean. I did it over 2 days which may have been a bit quick but i was so desperate to get her off dry. I was a bit worried that she might be a bit loose for a day or 2 but there has been no adverse effect and she is actually less windy.

She is having reiki, pranic healing and no one is allowed to be negative around her at all, just lots of positivity.

She is so full of energy, her coat is amazingly glossy and she is full of her usual personality. My god daughter was over with her boyfriend last night and cara was throwing the ball for them to go and fetch :D

Dobie girl has been really helpful and we had a good chat at the weekend which gave me good lift. So thanks lovely for the support. :)

So here's hoping it all works. It is hard doing all this and not knowing when I can relax a bit. I suppose as long as she is keeping so well it is all going in the right direction. xxx

Can I ask- with all the info on raw feeding why you are cooking the meat you give her? Sounds like you are doing all you can for your precious doggy. Also have never heard of Carbs fuelling cancer (I work in cancer research), but doggies dont need em anyway.

Hope by giving her the very best you make the tme you have with her very special indeed.

Hugs xxx

Lexie - sorry. not the carbs feeding it, just meant the sugar. I did look at raw before and decided against it for various reasons. Wish I had stuck with the meat diet then, cooked or raw :(
so the other stuff that i am giving her do you think i am doing the right things, are they things you have heard of?

Also, is it right that I don't need to feed an carbs at all? not even a wee bit of brown rice?

It is so important that I do the very best I can.

Brown rice wont hurt her- but they dont really need it, dogs struggle to digest grains, so dont really get anything of value out of em.

All the stuff you have said has been known to help some people. Look into supporting her immune system- actually what you are doing is probably doing this already.

Best of luck x

Thanks Lexie, I won't add it then if there is no point. yeah the whole thing is about supporting her immune system. The thing i have coming is an immune enhancer with reishi mushrooms and a few other things. If anyone know if there anything else I could be doing? xx

Mushrooms are not good for dogs. Isn't specifically designed for dogs, that type of supplement?

An oncologist friend told me that the least processed, the better, so I think raw is possibly better than cooked meat.

Some dry is fab, although the OH had to drag me away from someone buying Bakers today. :(

CT, the supplement coming is specifically designed for dogs so I am sure it will be fine but will look into it a bit further. I am sure some dry must be good but I think they are mostly high carb and I am steering clear of them. Isn't it all just a minefield though, my head is burst with it all lol. Thanks for the info. I am still open to suggestions.

Thanks Toffee, I have had a look at her web site and sent a message. I was reading about some of the products and it says about olive oil. It is a bit odd as Cara has developed a thing for Olives. If I am eating them she is really keen to get her share. Especially the ones in Lemon oil. Maybe this is why! Thanks again. xxx
