I posted last night about him being kicked in the face....well the vets called and said he has a depression fracture of his cheekbone and he removed several shards of bone last night, he has stitched back together what he could but he said the skin may not take, he is at the vets till at least Friday incase more bone needs to come out and because he is on very high doses of antibiotics.

What a poor pony, feel so sorry for him

I believe that sort of injury has a good recovery though. Poor you, and Connor.

I hope so

horse on my yard suffered 2 depressed fractures of her scull as she decided to dump jockey on gallops, and head back to stable, gate was shut so tried jumping - and fell on landing (gravel / tarmac).

She's OK, was off work for a while on box rest - now back on walker but because it may take time to know if any perm damage to brain, not to be ridden for another few weeks....

Hope Conner makes full recovery.

My old pony Simon had a fractured jaw after being kicked in the field. He eventually had to have some molars at the back of his mouth removed due to the damage. He also had a large piece of bone removed. I watched part of the operation ( during which he stopped breathing

) it was horrific. Despite that he recovered extreemly well and the wound healed fantastic. Im sure Colin will heal just as well. Some injuries although sound horrific actually heal very well.*** Good luck vibes **** coming your way.

I didnt hear about this.
Oh poor love, thats not a nice thing to happen.
Facial fractures/wounds tend to heal quicker so I have my fingers x for him. My mare put her head through my lorry roof and had two inches of skull removed - hole was big enough to put your fist into

she recovered quickly tho

Keep us posted.

Well it only happened yesterday, I did put a post up last night but dont think many saw it.

Hopefully it will heal quickly, just feel so sorry for him as he was starting to bond with us a bit and now he is injured and alone at the vets bless him.

Thank you for your good wishes, will post an update Friday on whether he is coming home or not

I spoke to your mum this morning - poor little giraffe - I'm sure he will be fine at the vets - the nurses will spoil him rotten!

You can always go and visit him and give him sugar lumps - that will make him feel better!
