Unfortunatly Tinka was put to sleep late last night, the internal stitches had tore, causing further damage & haemorraging, putting him through further surgery was unrealistic & it was decided that he had suffered enough. He has been buried in the meadow where he spent many hours chasing rabbits & helping gather the hay...

RIP Tinka 1998 - 2007

And Re: the suspect dog. The yard owner had further talks with the post man this morning, who reported that the dogs behaviour had become a talking point in the village. The Yard owner also went for a sniff around up there earlier, (didnt trespass, but 2 footpaths run parellel at the front & back of the property.) There are in fact 2 dogs being kept at that cottage, there are boundaries in the garden where they are kept (hence the yard owner couldnt get a closer look at them), but the boundary is a holey hedge & a 5 bar gate with big gaps either side..... On the back of that she has contacted the local Dog warden, who has said they will contact the owner & inform them that they may loose the dogs if they are not kept properlly, as they are a danger to themselves/motorists/riders when they get loose. He will also contact the landowner (the cottage is rented) and tell him the grounds are unsuitable for a dog. He will also consider further action when he has seen whether the dogs are aggressive or not.

Thanks so much for all your opinions on this last night guys, didnt ever expect such a large response!

RIP Tinka

Poor little man, what a horrid way to end his life. I hope it gets sorted out. Did the YO see what sort of dogs were being kept there?

RIP Little Tinka...
I hope you /your YO/the local authorities manage to get these people to take their responsibilities and prevent another accident.

Keep us posted. And big hugs to you.

Hand on heart for your lose.

Not been funny was the witnesses to this attack I'd making a complaint to the police that this dogs killed your dog due to the injuries then the RSPCA. Under the dangerous dog act in the UK

Nah unfortunately there was no witness, the dog could be completely innocent. But it is known that the dog was more than likely attacked by another dog & I saw accused dog 10 yards from where the YOs dog was found, only 20 mins before he was found. Others in the area have also seen him loose & noted aggressive behaviour.

It has been reported to the dog warden & will possibly be reported to the police before long.....
