My NF pony who was badly bitten by a staffy-type dog two weeks ago had the last of his 17 staples taken out yesterday and went out in the field today!

He is remarkably sound, and seems to be making a great recovery. No infection, the wound is healing properly and the vet said he could be back in gentle work by the end of the week.

Daughter's cob also fine, but we are very careful with our own dogs around him now. A neighbour who saw the dog attack said that the cob actually knocked the dog out cold with a well-aimed blow from his front hoof - well he has got soup-plate feet! - so am more worried about him going for all dogs now.

The youngest girl who got bitten on her foot and who fell off has been riding one of the others and is desperate to go to the Pony Club rallies so I think we can say she is fully recovered too!

Thanks to everyone who contacted me. The police did eventually come out to take details, the local paper did a story on it too, but no news of who the dog belonged to annoyingly. Also reported it to BHS as they are collecting data on dog attacks.

Just my bank balance to put right now after £300+ vet bill...

Glad to hear that ponies & kiddies are healing well. Must of been so shocking for everyone involved. Well done on getting everyone involved.

I'm glad to hear everyone is recovering well, must admit I've been wondering how you were all getting on. It really is good fortue that things weren't a damn sight worse, bad enough as the situation was. I really hope that something gets done about the dog.

Good news!

I'm glad all are recovering well.

Hi Thistle, yes, well spotted. Photo was mine, taken at Potton, they wanted a pic of all the girls hacking, but when do you ever take a pic of everyone hacking? So just sent in some random pics and they picked that one! Shame the other pony had his eyes shut. Some mothers will do anything to get their child in H&H!

Connor the Cob was nicknamed Just the Job by our instructor as he just does the job. Now thinking of renaming him Connor the (almost) Killer Cob! But am seriously worried about our dogs round him now, as he was always a bit handy (hoofy?) with that front right of his...
