For those that asked..........
Despite being out 24/7 his shiver is deffinitely worse than it was. No sign of a problem in the field or when working but when he's been in his stable for more than 30 minutes the problem is very evident when he turns around.
Very sadly I have made the decision not to risk the stress of serious SJ so have retired him from comps. OH is now training him as a dressage horse as he is not a horse that is happy without a job to do and he loves going to parties!
As I cant afford yet another horse (already have 4 between us) and I will not part with ED I have decided to just compete other folks horses and to expand my pupil base as I get great satisfaction from instructing.

SO...
If anyone in the northants/beds/bucks area wants their horse taking to a comp (SJ/XC or eventing) then let me know.
Or if anyone needs help with their flat work or jumping within the same area I might be able to help. I dont charge for instructing but do ask for contribution to petrol cost if i have to travel more than 10 miles. Only thing I ask is that you are serious about wanting to improve

If I can help anyone then please feel free to PM me. I have a fair bit of free time on my hands now

So sorry to hear this and just as you were getting to grips with him too

Good on you for putting him first though, and good luck with converting him to drossage

Free instruction eh ! When are you expecting to hear from the Pope about your 'sainthood' then lol!

I think I have committed to many transgressions in the past for that

There's a very good reason I dont charge for instructing.
I do it because I enjoy it, not because I need the money to live. This allows me to be very honest with the pupil (in a nice way) and I can say it as I see it without the worry that they will not have further lessons preventing me from eating.
I also go along to any comps they compete at (when possible) so that I can see what is actually happening rather than what they thought was happening. Just really enjoy it.

Sorry to hear about Ed. The right thing to do is often the hardest. Gutted you ar'nt in Surrey- what you are offering is just what we need

Poo... poor ed

I am so sorry D to hear that this.... I am sure Ed will make a great dressage horse tho

Now if i can just get winston right (hes sound but im not happy about his ringbone atm) then you can ride him occasionally

Youre more than welcome to come over and take him out for a nice hack if you like?? prob a bit too far, but the offer is there

we have hunt jumps across the park

That's a real shame. Have you tried Ed on the high oil EPSM diet. Supposed to help shiverers.

We are about an hour away from you and I really wish we were closer as i could do with some extra help just now.

What a bugger

Poor Ed, it was just starting to come tgether as well..........Sods law isn't it!

I don't suppose Warwickshire (the college) would be too far to travel if theres plenty of fuel money involved?

He's been on a high oil diet since I got him 17 months ago

I think I must have read just about every bit of research published on the net. I fear heis is one of the unlucky ones where it is degenerative

Not out of the question, especially if there are other people in the area. Currently collecting names / locations of peeps that I may be able to help then I will sort out who is where and see what I can come up with.

We I'm here for another few weeks so if theres anybody else in the area who's interestd give me a shout.....I need as many lessons as I can get my hands on

Sorry to hear that about Ed - sounds like a tough decision to make, but the right one. Would love to hear about his dressage progress.

I'm sure you will have no shortage of people taking you up on your offer of help

Poor Ed - sorry to hear about your difficult decision.

Shame you arent nearer.

Hope it all works out for you both.

Sorry to hear about Ed ,he is such a lovely generous horse. I wasn't aware there was anything wrong until I read this today, but wondered why I hadn't seen any posts about your progress.Think you would have to search hard to find such a fine gentleman maybe you could try the dressage, it is addictive once you get into it but not the same buzz as jumping

Not a chance. Never liked it when I was eventing and with my dressage diva wife my ears would hurt from hearing all the errors I made in every test I rode.
Will leave it to her then I can be a pushy owner who complains if their horse doesn't win
wink.gif

Oh bugger, what horrible news
frown.gif
If you were closer to me I would have you over as my SJ instructor but I am way too far - might have to come over and you can put Kat and I through our paces once she has moved tho!

Well I wish you happiness in your watching and hope we can catch up at some time.Think we are doing the regional dressage at The College with young horse so maybe see you there? I went to Steven last week and Penfold was amazing warmed up over some little fences then stopped to talk and he said'just keep jumping the fences 'I looked around and they were enormous but off I went over the double and treble then related distance then he said'does he do water'I said don't know ,he said'how old is he?' like at 10 why hasn't he done a water jump, like we all have them!!!!!!!!
I said I'd have a go and he flew that water jump with a big oxer over it.
I was on such a high, Robert was watching as a young rider was worried about their horse and he was checking it out.It is another world and they are so generous to let me go over.I'm sorry you couldn't follow our lesson up but life has a funny way of turning up the unexpected and something will turn up for you to enjoy.
I will keep an eye out for your posts.

OH has qualified medium regionals so yep, we will be there.

Mediums are going to be on Sunday and I'm there on Saturday but our paths will cross at sometime maybe at Weston Lawns.
Anyway I hope Ed likes dressage as much as he liked jumping then he will be there too but on the Saturday
