Well I guess all I can say is, I'm glad I did get a second opinion.

No closer to an answer yet, as she is going to be going in to horspital on thurs to see an orthopedic specialist to try and get to the bottom of her lameness.

Vet today was brilliant and gave her a complete and thorough examination. She picked up that she was slightly unlevel L fore - flexion tests on both front legs were positive, and she is bi-lateral behind. The front end is ironically worse than the back end

i just cant understand how my gorgeous 5 year old girl went from being fine 6 months ago to now being lame on all 4 legs.

She's not saying it is or isnt PSD at the moment, I guess we will find out in a few days. And she said she could be lame in front from compensating for the back end, but i have a feeling there is more to it than yet.

So really I feel quite awful, I feel like I have let my poor girl down, i dont feel particulary positive as things just keep getting worse and worse. I'm starting to think that this isn't going to have a positive outcome for my poor darling mare

sorry to be so negative and depressing I just feel so sad. I've had her since she was 4 months old and well I'm just so upset.

Oh dear you poor thing, I hope the hospital can get to the bottom of things. I'm also going through a very bad patch with my horse and can thoroughly sympathise with you. PM if you ever want to chat or moan or rage.

((((hugs))))) to you Alex, At least she is going to horsey hospital to get sorted

Its the not knowing thats the worse part, I had to wait 5 months before I knew what was wrong with mine!
If only they could talk.

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages. I've spent loads of time with her today, and took the camera down (pics in the pg!) - my OH says I'm being pessimistic (sp!) and that she will probably be absolutely fine, but it doesnt hurt to spend more time with her anyway as she doesnt have much else to do stuck in her box.

My mum is going to come up from Hampshire on thursday and come to the vets with us for 'moral support'. She's a bit 'old school' I guess, and keeps telling me that 6 months in the field will sort her out - oh how I wish that was the case!!

Here she is (ellie, not my mum!) tonight:

her stable looks tiny in this photo!!

(((((((hugs))))))) - as I can't think of anything useful

Inclined to agree with your mum on the 6 months in a field, if you can. A year would be even better!

<<<<<<<vibes>>>>>>> as well, while I think about it.

Don't beat yourself up... you have been out and got a 2nd opinion! Well done for doing that

As for the field rest, that all very much depends on what it is that you are dealing with. If it is PSD, field rest will not improve it therefore a strict programme of box rest and in hand walking will be the plan of action

Once you know exactly what is going on, you will feel so much more positive because you have something to work towards

Good luck!
