Further to my recent post about fresh horse, too much feed and not enough turnout, things seem to be getting slightly better. Re. turnout, usually its only one hour a day, then whatever exercise I can fit in (can be hard with two small kids at school only 4 days a week). Anyway Xmas hols fast approaching and concerned about not being able to find the time to ride (mum won't babysit!!!). Will take the girls with me a couple of times and lunge him, but this will not be enough. Anyway, I ask if I could sometimes pop back down during the afternoon once all the horses had had their turnout and stick mine back in the paddock for the afternoon. She said sure no probs, but did I know she has another field (about 3 mins walk away) that I can put him in for the whole day as no one else bothers to use it. Well of course, NO I did not know. But now I do I will be using it!!!! So will at least be able to pop down to stables and walk him with kids to field and leave him there for the day. Hopefully then in two weeks when I ride again he won't be as fresh. Hooray.
