well, had previous owners up for a visit today, and the mum wasnt happy with joey. (not cross with me, just not happy with his condition). I gave him a dose of copper today, and horse dentist turned up, we have figured out whats wrong. Poor pony's teeth were terrible. He said that the pony is only eating to survive, not enjoying it, as it's really hurting him everytime he eats. (He made me put my hand in his mouth to understand what was going on). Anyway, he reccommended that any pony/horse over 15 should have teeth checked every 4 mths. he said, 3 weeks and we should see a big improvement. In fairness to previous owner, she wants to pay for dentist and offered to pay for vet to take blood and see if he's lacking in anything. She really does love that pony. Anyway, hope teeth being done will show big improvement!! xxxx

I have completely missed the 'back story' with this pony, how old is he and how long since the teeth were last done?

I keep expecting my EDT to suggest more frequent visits for my old boy but he's always been really impressed with him and is happy to continue on yearly visits (though I always get vet to check at vaccination time too).

Fingers crossed Joey picks up soon :)

Joey is Shaunas new pony. he is not poor, but isnt where we want him either. His teeth were done 8 mths ago, but he's just not thriving at the moment. I gave him a copper dose this afternoon, horse dentist came this evening, said his teeth were a disaster, he was cutting himself on his cheeks every time he ate!!! Por pony, sorted now, horse dentist reckons we should see a massive improvement in about 3 weeks, so fingers crossed. failing that, full blood testing is next step, but according to dentist, no need!!!!
