Update on foal - positive

Well, things are looking a bit brighter than they were this morning. Apollo seems to have turned a corner. Last night we had to practically force the bottle down him, and he wouldn't even touch the bucket of diluted milk. Even though we went out and bought a white one for him- as recommended by the national foaling bank.

Now he is really going for it. He has taken to both the bucket and the bottle. I don't know whether he realised his mum wasn't coming back or he just found the will to carry on. I'm very proud of the little man anyway.

He is currently wearing a dog coat to keep him warm (wait for the pictures!). We have a mare coming to meet him tomorrow, I just hope that they get on together. I'm sure mollymurphy won't mind if I say she is helping us out! Thanks to all for their good wishes, and I promise to keep you all posted.

I'll be glad for a few quiet moments to think about Suzy, things are manic here now.

So can everyone please send positive vibes at about 10/11am tomorrow that Dolly (the ginge in my sig) takes to the baby!

Aww how lovely of Molly to try to help you out. I really hope that this works.

Well done to you for keeping it all together - you have been so strong, even in your moment of grief, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself.

Fingers crossed that Dolly and the little chap take to each other. Once he is sorted out, please do make time to just sit quietly and think about Suzy, she deserves it, and you need it.

Thats good news. Sorry about your mare, it must have been such a shock for you all when everything had gone so well, but at least your foal had his first three weeks with his mum and will have built up some immunity which gives him such a good start.Fingers crossed his new mummy takes to him.
