I'm back from the yard
Frankie owner, C , was there
and when the physio came she asked me lots of the usual questions, including what do I do with him and what are my plans, for which I said jumping
She did the usual physio stuff, I walked him out for her and she noticed that his off hind wasn't tracking up and his near hind was over tracking. So tied him up and she did a lot of prodding (don't know the physio term
) and she said he was fine over his shoulders, nice and loose over his hindquarters (of course still needs more muscle
) but the main area of tightness was where his saddle went. She did this three finger thing along the muscle that runs parallel to his spine and you could see the tension poor thing! his muscles kept dipping away but the more she did it the less he did it. He just stood there eating his hay so it hardly bothered him
apart from when she did a bit in his right side where he objected slightly
and to me that shows why he is so bad on his right rein?
Anywhoo after all that I walked him out for her again, and she said he looked tonnes better
she showed me this trick to do with a hoof pick, running it down his bum (I can't explain it but it makes him round his back) and I could do that every day. She also said that she has no problem with me doing what I want to do with him, but of course keep an eye on it and let her know if anything comes up. I have her number now so that's all good!!
When she left C was like 'you feel better now don't you?' as if to say 'I told you so'
I said of course, and it's always good for for me to know of things to do to help him in anyway I can, and that with all the work I do with him I just wanted reassurance that I am not making him any worse, and end up breaking him completely in 6 months to a year
C then said ' I said it was all about his feet/bad shoeing' and all I could say was 'yes, yes'
So she wasn't mad with me, just a bit
i just hope she doesn't ring me tomorrow and go....'after yesterday Jen i can't trust you anymore and you have to p!ss off'
i don't think she will though
So that was an expensive 'piece of mind' for me, but I do feel a lot better
Sorry for the essay
