Nerve blocks and x-rays yesterday. MRI today and it's good news
No soft tissue damage.
No Navicular damage.
What there is, is the horse has poor conformation within the hoof. From the outside it looks pretty normal, not perfect, but acceptable. Inside it's a slightly different story. It's asymetrical and she's loading one side. There's sidebone, but that per se isn't the issue. The bone is bruised and there is inflamation, which is causing the pain
. It's something that can come on suddenly and without a known incident.
She'll stay there 'till tomorrow when she'll see their remedial farrier; she'll probably have to be shod to retrain her hooves into the right shape for the insides, if that makes sense.
There is every chance that she can go back to being a showjumper, which is brilliant news
as she's not reknown for being a steady hack 
(although she's pretty much bombproof), and an even worse paddock ornament

Should have added: she's been barefoot for the last three years at least. Our farrier watches the horses move to get an idea of what is going on, but he had no way of knowing what was going on inside the hoof, as from the outside it looks fine, with no strange wear pattern.
