Hi all, some of you may remeber me posting not long ago about me panicing as id sent my first ridden loan pony back and getting a new pony and that it wasnt going to well.

Unfortunatly the loan trial didnt work out pony was just to much for my daughter, so instead of carrying on and denting my daughters confidence i made the decision to give the pony back to the owner (was a months) trial and keep looking. In the meantime the owner of the yard im at has some ponies in for selling and she was riding one of them.
Well my daughter fell in love with one of them a little pony called Star, perfect for her has done a small amount of BSJA 13 hh ish, more foward going but not to sharp for her. But or sale and i was hopeing to loan till she was a bit older and not growing so quick!!!!
Anyway i couldnt resist and shes now going to be ours!!!!:D Were still trialing at the minute but end of next week she will be ours!!! Im not going to tell daughter as its her birthday in June so ive told her were borrowing untill we find a pony and then i will take her down to see the pony on her birthday and put some ribbons on the pony cant wait to see her face!!!:D

And dont worry before anybody thinks im a silly person that hasnt a clue buying a pony for the birthday and not knowing how to look after it, i do i work with horses and daughter has been riding for a goodly while. And had her first pony on full loan so shes defo keen.;)

Anyway heres some piccies!!:D:)

Also she hasnt got any breeding on her passpost so any ideas on what you think, im thinking maybe a bit of irish in there??

Oh sweet!! what an amazing bday present! she will remember that day forever!

Breed wise...maybe New forest? bit of welsh maybe? either way very very nice.

Firstly don't bother with explaining why you are buying for a bday present!!!! Nobody elses business!!!!

Secondly, CUTE!!!! and loads of growing room

Thirdly!! If I were you, I would give the pony back a week before your daughter's birthday, then surprise her with it!!!! :D

Lovely :D my first pony was a birthday present. However, he was a result of my Grandma writing in my birthday card "I'm going to buy you a pony" without having told my parents! :o

Pony looks like a lovely sort, she is going to have a lot of fun with her :D

Thanks for the update. I think you did the right thing. As I said on your other thread, we went through exactly the same thing with my stepson's second pony, and it went back, to be swapped for a more suitable one.. We never looked back after that!

As for the breed, not obvious really! But who cares if its a good'un! Enjoy!

Thankyou she seems a lovely pony and very genuine, shes already teaching my daughter things. And daughter already seems to trust her so having fun.

Im really excited about telling her on her birthday my friend may even trailer to my house so when she wakes up in the moring shes outside her bedroom!!!!:) but we shall see about that!!

i know going to be a tough one to top although i think a pony will covers presents for a few birthdays and chritmases!!!;)

Yer if im honest i probaly rushed into the the unsuitable pony as she was there and the other pony was going. As it happens it turned out for the best as i may not have ended up with this one!!!:) She really is lovely and just perfect!!! (fingers crossed!!)

Yer she could be crossed with a donkey for all i care as long as she looks after my daughter shell be treated like a princess!!:)

I look and think irish then maybe nf, i dont think welsh her face is 2 square. I reckon shes a good old baked beans pony as i like to call them heinz 57:D there always the best!!

She looks NF to me, too. How embarassing that your daughter rides better than me at a jump!

Sorry, but I think the idea of sending her back and then presenting her to your daughter would be a very mean trick! Your own idea sounds spot on. :)

Hehe shes exremely lucky that im an instuctor and a groom so shes got a her very own trainer to herself 7 days a week!!!!!

Haha it would be a bit mean, were actually on holiday for a little bit just before her birthday so i probaly wouldnt do that anyway but shes at the yard where my stable is anyway just in a different section (i rent 5 stables for my friend and 2 liveries) so i think shes going to stay in there care till her birthday then shell be worked while im away. And theyll put her in my stable before i arrive on my daughters birthday!!:)

She looks great, but how big is your daughter now  it wasnt long ago she looked small on the lovely little dun guy. Looking forward to how they progress together, do I see some bs reports before long :D.

I know shes grown up alot!!!!! Yer her legs were getting dangly on him she could have probaly stayed on him a bit longer but the owner either wanted me to commit till next summer on sell him this spring and he just wouldnt have lasted till next year. Was a very very sad day when he left but i helped the owner find a fantastic home for him and they are keeping in touch with both me and the lady that owned him which is great.

I expect you will see some BS reports the yard im at is mainly showjumping and alot of the others kids go off to junior BS . Now that will be scary First Ridden classes was bad enough when she came off the lead rein!!!! But at least the pony has done it so shell hopefully look after her.

Littlelegs thank you i think shes cute to but obviously im biased!!:D

Aww lovely - your daughter will be over the moon! My boy was a Christmas present when I was 10... I'm mid twenties now and he's still mine :):o and I still ride him several times a week! Had a few younger, bigger, more 'suitable' horses on loan with view to buy but ultimately only really have time/money for one full-time and he's not going anywhere. He has a very special place in my life! I hope Star will be as fabulous for your daughter as the Ginger one has been for me :):)

Not too good at breeding but I'd agree with those who've said native... NF would be my thought.

Awww...lovely news and boy, are you going to be one very popular parent come birthday time...:D

They look lovely together... Very similar to the NF pony my grand daughter has been loaning for a year... :)

I did wonder NF but the other trial pony was NFx and the only similar thing was there colour but i suppose they do vary alot. Here is another pic without rider. I have to say im quite pleased with her conditon, shes living out all the time on decent grazing and is not grossly fat after having to worry so much with previous pony and a very shapely crest will be nice not to have to be soaking hay and muzzling!1:)

Oh hell, I'm 43 and haven't outgrown 13 handers! LOL!

I think she is gorgeous and happy for you and your daughter.

A bit sad you have to put in a disclaimer about having qualifications for owning a horse though.

Best of luck!

Terri

Ahh i wish i could ride the small ones, im 5'10 and although not fat im to well built to ride her!! I do sit on fell ponies at work though but they are very stocky types.

Yer i know, but i know what its like on here, you get jumped on so easily sometimes, i just imagined people saying your iresposible buying a pony for a birthday do you know how to look after it!! Which i suppose in some situations it is iresponsible if said people havent a clue.

Thankyou though im really excited about it all and cant wait to tell her on her birthday 19 june seems a long way off.

Lovely pony - reminds me of my old boy! It looks to me like there's a bit of Exmoor in there somewhere!

Your daughter looks like a confident and good little rider.

All the best to you both! :)
