UPDATE on horse with trigeminal neuralgia headshaking

I don't know anything about head shaking but my livery owner had a horse that was a head shaker. He had a new procedure at the Animal Health Trust and has subsequently stopped

It's PENS.

Direct stimulation of the nerve with electrical current by sticking the needle into it. Just like TENS used by people for pain management, only a bit more invasive.

Yes that's right. The horse had it a couple of years ago. It works for some and not for others but it seems to have worked for hers.

One of our horses suddenly started violent headshaking last summer and after investigations, including a CT scan, showed nothing he had three lots of PENS treatment. So far it's worked, I don't think I'll totally relax until it's been a full year so we can exclude enviromental issues but it's definitely looking positive at the moment.
