Had a long talk with the farrier .His opinion is that if any hoof is removed it will compromise the weight baring of the foot and the pedal bone will have nothing to support so will drop irretrievably.
She has a dropped pedal bone (NOT laminitis related )
She has had her new heart bar made to measure shoe fitted and looks better though still lame at trot on hard going actually sound in the sand school.
Farrier's opionion it that she has has so much done to the foot as well as being without a shoe for 2 periods of 6 days during the last month that it will take some time for the trauma and bruising to settle.
Had a long talk to the vet and with his approval (eventually) I am going to do nothing for 8 weeks except monitor her she is on 1 danelon a day and a joint supplement Just fetch in groom etc.
I really do not think I will have the keratoma removed at her age (20 )and given the farriers worries it just isn't fair to her the farrier says they often are slow growing.
I will just wait and see and take every day I have with her as it comes. It goes wthout saying that if her condition dramaticaly worsens in that time i will fetch the vet/farrier
Hope I am doing the right thing still a bit fragile over it Thanks for listening
