Update on Larsen Trap

The swallows will still be back though.
Here ( north Wales ) we have tits, Robbins magpies crows an abundance of lesser spotted woodpeckers and in the summer flocks of finches with red on their heads, I originate from Surrey had never seen them til I moved up here, we never get cuckoos either and we have hardly any sparrows ( unlike surrey ) although do get sparrow hawks and skylark and buzzards are plentiful.

And plenty of swallows and house martins a few are back most yet to arrive.
Let's hope late swallows means a lovely hot summer!

Really interesting thread, from both sides. I'll confess I had no idea what a larsen trap was until I met my shooting enthusiast OH, just goes to show what good being a country-ish girl did me!

However, posting in response to something you posted a few pages back OP - please God find me another landlord who would rather have a tenant paying a peppercorn rent on his land to 'prevent it being built on', than sell it to developers for squillions of pound. Then I could have my little dream smallholding ;)

Have been keeping my mouth shut on this one, but can bite my lip no longer :)

I have no problem with Larsen traps per sey, but I found a hawk in one about 3 years ago, I was walking the dog with MIL, I was going to release it, she threw a paddy shouting how they ate ' her' swallows. Argument got very heated, as she expected mu oh the neck it ( illegal) so we parted company, and only now exchange a polite hello for The sake of OH and daughter.

Very sad situation as we were soo close, but that is an abuse of the instrument
