hi many of you might remember me posting at the start of the year saying i had just got my new 17.2hh gelding gymbo i was having massive confidence problems with him and didn't want to ride in which i posted and people helped and replied

anyway then found out the saddle i had did not fit him at all and i brought him a brand new wintec saddle last week he hasn't been ridden for 2 months but i had been lunging him and doing alot of ground work with him.
So got the new saddle and a new bridel and bit so fully sure he is ok in that sense tacked him up and lunged him in which time my friend came down and edged me to get on him which i was not keen on and i had been dreading but did it only walked round our paddocks and had a little trot but he was good as gold i was so chuffed with myself i know its not alot but made me feel like i had achieved something then next night i was there on my own tacked him up again and rode him for 40 min

and loved it havn't had the courage to venture out anywhere yet though

.
Then yesterday have been fencing off another paddock just round the corner which you see our field and stables though the bushes it is right next door put him in there for 3/4 hour went back and he was dripping with sweat i dont know what an earth had frightened him i stood roungd the corner watching him for 10 min munching on the grass happily to find him like that he was white with sweat??????????/
so i took him back to our paddock and stables in which time he spooked trampled my right foot took the skin off it really swollen and purple today and now i cant ride

so now i'm worried i might lose what little confidence i have built if i dont ride him today but cant really with my foot.
thought about taking him back round that paddock for 1/2 today and stay with him and see if he is just winding himself up or someone is as it's right on footpath where horses and dog walkers go.

Well done you!! you've made lot of progress, just dont let the foot trampling thing knock your confidence!! its what horses do - they cant be perfect all the time. they have a habit of going really well and then doing something to p*** you off. with my crazy mare i just try to ignore and forget all her little mad moments! and as for yours he sounds like he was probably a little scared at going in a new field, was he on his own? and dont take foot trampling personally he wouldnt have meant it! just keep positive about all the progress you've made!

well done you!! i am sure you will be fine and your foot will heal soon, i know how you feel I remember getting on my horse Rocky on my own for the first time and being really worried i felt like a complete idiot because he was so good!!! Good luck

I think you're doing great - hang in there! Saddle pain can cause a lot of behavioural problems, so focus on the postive result: you found the problem and sorted it out.

As for the field, who knows??? Horses do these things, forget about it and get on with enjoying your horse!

Well done, when building up confidence it is important to celebrate any progress. Good luck! You will get there, hope your foot gets better soon.

thanks hope it doesn't knock my confidence though yes he was in there on his own but the other horse he is kept with goes to another field during the day every day anyway took him over there again today and sat with him and he was ok and he walked back fine with me hobbling next to him.
