I posted a few weeks ago on my homebred's first jumping session and since then Sadie has been doing one session a week over the show jumps and her progress is incredible. She has hardly spooked at any fillers and we have progressed from a small grid to single jumps from both trot and canter with or without placing poles. I like to mix it up to keep her think and I am conscious to just keep her straight and in a controlled rythym and leave the rest to her so she learns to look after herself. I am really pleased that she always seems to learn from her mistakes and is developing great technique whilst staying very calm and relaxed. Yesterday she had her longest session yet and got lots of photos and video.

Started with a simple grid approaching in trot of two cross poles with a one stride distance and placing poles and this was her reaction when the filler was added to the second one!

Then built up to an upright and a spread and started putting it up a bit as she was finding it effortless.

Sequence of three below as she popped down it as if she had been doing it for years. Whilst she was spot on, I must admit I was rather excited at jumping my first proper size fence on my baby and let myself get a bit too far forward on take off.

Next took her round the rest of the show jumps including water tray which warranted a look and big leap!

Finally my first attempt to embed some videos of her in action

In summary I am really can't express how pleased I am with my girl who is so rewarding to ride. I am still determined to take things slowly although after such a good performance we have decided to do the clear round at the show Jumping on Saturday here at Stockland Lovell which she popped round fine although at 65cm found the jumps hardly worthy of much effort!

Well done - she looks lovely!

She does look as though she is taking everything in her stride - including having a naughty bottom bounce in the 2nd vid!! :)

You look like you have a lovely arena to work in as well :)

Yes I put that little buck was because she wanted to stop be the gate and I put it in just to show she has some attitude! Rather spoilt with arena, but great for youngsters you don't want to be turning tight circles on.

she must be bold to jump those card planks without a fuss!
whenever i meet them at a show the babies leap into orbit after doing the left /right/ left dodge attempt and the older ones always have to have a second look, she must be super bold.

just out of curiousity is she very careful (that you have noticed yet)? i like spooky ones as generally find them more careful (i sj only though so bit different).
obviously a slightly ridiculous generalisation on my behalf but just interested to know?
she looks fab anyway

Shark1- She is not ultra careful as you would want a top show jumper to be but pretty aware of her feet and as long as I bring her in slowly and straight she generally doesn't touch much. As I want her to event she is to me the right mix of boldness and carefulness. Her Mum who I evented to advanced was a great show jumper at competitions with loads of clears, but I rarely jumped her at home when she could be rather lazy at picking her feet up unless you jumped her over 1m10. I think (and hope) Sadie will be the same.
Having said that she has also had a play over tiny cross country fences and ballooned a ditch so big she almost sent me into orbit so she can be spooky as well as being bold!

Seabiscuit, she by Up With The lark, the you Welton Event Stallion owned and ridden by Michael Jackson and out of my amazing mare Steeler's Texarkana and is the carbon copy of her Mum. She is one of Up With The Lark's first crop of foals from 2006 so I would be very interested to hear from anyone else with one of his off spring.

She looks fun. I loved the broncing moment and the whole general unbalancedness of it all. She's so young and wobbly on the way in yet can still pull a decent pop out of the bag when she gets there :D.

And I don't know how you did it, but embedded vids are the way forward!
