People seemed interested before so thought i'd do a little update on Foxy! She's doing so well, bless her, she's really coming along nicely now.
First we went for a flatwork lesson with Ruth Edge. It was quite a windy day and Foxy was a bit frisky to start with but she behaved. I think Ruth quite liked her, mainly worked on getting the right tempo (i.e. me not rushing her along too much in trot), doing loads of transitions a trying to get her canter a bit more established (Still not done a huge amount of cantering). Was really useful and Ruth was really nice.
Then at the weekend I took her to a farm ride / XC schooling! She was really excellent and really well behaved even though much more forward than usual! I only intended to have a hack and do a couple of logs but ended up doing quite a few decentish little fences. She was awesome!! Also went in the water that I've been a bit worried about.
I took her to Hargate today for a little jump, See the vid. She was getting a bit complacent with the little jumps by this point but she only knocked the one fence down in the whole session and didn't look at the fillers or anything! Jumped a couple at about 2'9'' at the end with a filler and she actually made quite a nice shape other than just hopping over.
So I'm now thinking she might make a nice little event horse!
What do you think? Any ideas what jumping exercises I could be doing?
