Its all going well!
We have been lunging rather than long reining at the moment because i can lunge perfectly well where as long reining i am less confident about and as he also doesn't really "get it" i think its a bit confusing for both of us!
He now go's nicely on a circle and pretty much understands away, walk, trot and stand- not every time but we are getting there!
He is ok with someone having a leg up, tightening the girth doing stirrups and having their mobile ring once on board!
Yesterday the rider had him trotting round the field for the first time and i was able to move away til i was quite a long way away without him depending on me- which i was very pleased with.
He has his first rug on now aswell and is just proving to be a really lovely little person.
I am slightly concerned that his "bad rein" is the same rein as his bad eye and the rider (old owner) seems to favour working him on the good rein all the time. When i am doing him alone i work him equally on both and he is getting there slowly.
He's been walked out in hand to see how he copes without the safety of his yard and friends- no problems.
He's got the most lovely temprement and even though he's working still comes running as soon as he see's me every day which i love as my horse is slightly indifferent!
I'm still panicky about the whole thing but feeling much better and more positive- even if it takes ages there is no hurry and i can see us owning a really nice little horse for a very long time!
