Saw the consultant this morning, having brought my appointment forward because have been very uncomfortable along my plate and even wondered if I had healed properly.

Xray showed the bone has healed substantially but the plate is very near the surface of my skin and when I am doing my job (lifing and moving patients within hospital) I am aggrivating it and making it sore/inflamed.

Consultant and I decided best way forward is to have the plate removed so another op but then hopefully will be more comfortable and can put this episode behind me.

Fingers crossed second op will do the trick - you'll get there in the end!

Hi ya, long time no speak. is this another injury or the one you did when you parted company with Archie. Either way, hope you have a speedy recovery from under the knife !

A friend had the same sort of thing (another ned related injury!) and is much better since having the plate removed, so I'm sure you'll be fighting fit soon. Good luck with it and with Archie.

Yes Kay, this is still the same injury, 8 months down the line. I will never again rush ... I was rushing to please other people, jumped on my boy bareback down the field who was full of the joys of a warm February day and who thought it would be good fun to have a bucking fit, squealing with delight as he did it and me flying through the air like a bolt of lightning.

oh bless you, ive struggled with shoulder for years since landing on some ice in a water jump. big sympathies and hope op sorts it

Gosh, that sounds painful. I broke mine just under a year ago, but the thought of having to lift patients makes me wince. Sorry you have to have another op - I got away without one.
