thanks to all the repliers btw!!!!

i have had the vet out for a horsey MOT lol...
he tested her eyesight and reactions (he described them as extreme :s) as well as watching her trot up and being lunged (he swiftly exited the school as she went crackers on the end of the lunge) he also took blood to test
the results....
eyes = fine
movement = fine
bloods = fine

so now he has suggested she is fed only hay and given a magnesium supplement to settle her if that doesnt work he mentioned brain scans! hopefully it wont come to that

equine america for your magnesium. 6 months supply for about £18 from www.supplementsolutions.com
I hope it helps a bit.

ets. Is she on a low starch diet? some say they are low starch and are actually about 14 or 15%. Winergy senior (her age doesn't matter) or top spec cool conditioning cubes along with their balancer are really low.
Also some horses are intolerant of alfalfa which can bring on extreme behaviour. You probably know all this anyways, just thought it was worth the mention.

Fingers crossed you get to the bottom of it speaking as one who has lost her nerve somewhere down the line over Xmas.

You didn't lose your nerve! You assessed what it was you wanted/needed out of your horsey life and came a a totally understandale, etc., conclusion!

Hugs.
