Just thought a little update would be in order. Funny really, well I think so. Since she came to us she has been absolutely foot perfect, just could not fault her in any way. It has occurred to me she is rather...erm.....dull and seemed not able to express any personality, just totally obedient and not any attempt to rock the boat in her new home at all.
Taking into account she has been coached and trained for showing I guess that probably explains a lot but I did feel rather sad for her that she is almost too good, does that make sense?. The rest of the family thought it was great she is so good in every way, but they have slowly come to agree with me she is almost over trained, and a little shut down from allowing herself to just ...be a dog I think!
Anyway, things are slowly changing thank goodness...this week she has stolen a bit of paper off my desk - ran around the ground floor with my son chasing her and collapsed in a big wagging heap of labrador when he finally caught up with her and retrieved the piece of paper. she has been caught several times on her hind legs snuffling the worktops, stolen a soft toy of the windowsill and just wagged her tail at me and gave me that wonderful Labrador grin when I took it off her!
I cant walk her out at the minute so my sons are doing that for me - delighted to report she now zooms around in huge loops when they chase her in the fields rather than sticking to their side like glue...eventually leaping all over them when she finally decides that is enough for one day.
She is still so very obedient when asked to be, but thank goodness we are seeing the real Jem - who by the way is now answering to her new moniker 'Sniff sniff'!!
sorry rather pointless post but I am so thrilled with her and for her. We are so privileged to have her.
