Thank you so much for all the replies. After a very long night Bean seems to have recovered very well!
Longer story of my day yesterday is below!
First off thank you so much for all the good luck vibes. Both Bean and Milly are fine. So now things are a little calmer I shall take a few mins to tell you what happened.
Got home from work yesterday afternoon after a really bad day at work and some issues at the livery yard. Was feeling pretty rubbish about it all! Changed my facebook status to "Frankie thinks she would have to be hit by a bus for today to get much worse" . Hmmm, not the best idea because half an hour later everything started to go wrong! lol but on the plus side I wasn't hit by a bus.
Got to the livery yard at about 6pm to bring Milly in. Milly's field is furthest away and to get to it it's down fensed off grassy walk ways. A few times she has been a bit spooky but nothing too bad. Went to get her in last night and it was pretty windy. Got half way to the field and thought "hmm, maybe I should have put my hat on" but carried on. Another pony we would have to walk past looked a little wound up but I thought "naahhh, won't wait till it comes in, she needs to get used to it". Hmm lol. Soon as I got her out of the field and a bit closer to the stables the pony in the field went mad running around and within seconds Milly got very stupid and dangerous. Spinning around and pointing her arse at me. There was really nothing I could do in the end other than let go as I would be seriously hurt. Upon letting go I had to throw myself under an electric fense to avoid being kicked! The grass walk way is kind of L shaped. She went galloping off and didn't realize she had to turn on the L corner and went skidding in to a permanent wooden post and rope electric fense! Some how didn't get hurt, got up and galloped the rest of the way. When I finally caught her by the stables she was piaffing and passaging anf being generally scary! Managed to chuck her in the stable when I got a phone call from my dad.
Phone call was to say Bean had been found cast in her stable and had colic. Vet had been and they think I should go home. Sorted Milly out as fast I could, went back to mine for the dog and drove 1.5hrs to my parents. Got home at 8pm and spent all night with Bean. About an hours sleep maybe? lol and at 5am I had to set back off home to sort Milly and go to work. Luckily Bean improved drastically and by 5am when I left. Just back from work now (I work on intensive care as a physiotherapist) and I'm knackered and got to go back to sort Milly out in a min.
The Milly thing really shook me too because bolting on the way in from the field is how Bean originally got injured and why she is retired. Couldn't face it agan tonight so left her in for the day!
Gahhhhh horses! Who'd have them!
