Hello, not been logged in for 2 months as dealing my new ID and trying to sort my mare out.
For those interested, we did a 5-day bute trial, no exercise. then 10 days later vet asked we take for short walk ride to see how she was. All seemed fine as usual, but she did stop on the ride once for no reason. Not sure if it was the removal of the back shoes was why she acted like this and the last video in October.
Then Vets came up and we got her in the school and lunged her, and she seemed a little short on 1 back foot. We then trotted up on the straight and she was sound, we then did a flexion test in front and she was sound. Vets then asked to be lunged on concrete and one rein she was very un-even, but the vets said, they were not sure it was lameness or foot balance issues.
We then booked her in for nerve blocks - still sound on the straight, and sound on the lunge and in the school.
Took her back onto the concrete, a little better but still uneven they said.
Vets puzzled the way she was paddling on the tight corner not actually up and down lameness.
Next came - next thing - to book her in for xrays.
That has shown us she Has foot balance issues one hind foot she is too low on the heel compared to the other, and one front foot (not sure which one as not got report yet) the inside is a lot lower than the outside. Vets said it was like wearing a high heel on one foot and not the other. The angle of the paster was not straight but tilted. A little change on the navicular and fluffy bits on the pastern. Vets hoping over the coming trims, we can level her off and that might make all the difference to the hard ground unevenness.
Oh yes we also have removed the dental stuff and raised the heels through pads, in the back to compensate the low heels.
So once we have given that time - we will do another check, but until then slow hacks/schooling and 1 danilon a day.
