Update on my uncomfortable coloured...

Just taken a phone call from the vet as she took a blood sample from her on Tuesday

basically she's still got a high enzyme count so her azoturia is still present 8 weeks on... I feel so so awful, I was told by the vets to give her a weeks field rest and then bring her back into work, and I gave her 3 with gentle walking in the 3rd week, but it obviously never cleared up and now i've been working her when she's still poorly

She's got to be on box rest for the next week and on antibiotics as her white cell count is also higher than it should be

how i'm ever going to keep her in i have no idea, she just pops straight over her door in the mornings when she decides she wants to come out, and even putting a pole above it means she just barges until something falls or breaks... damn mare...

I totally sympathise with you about your horse being extremely unhappy on box rest. In the past I've had to sling a sawn off telegraph pole across my boys door, as he couldnt barge through that

no consolation but my pony took 3 months to get his bloods back to normal after recurrent azorturia. he is on selenium and vit e supplement and no hard feed - just alpha a

I really feel for you, my mare had to have 6 weeks box rest and then 3 weeks turnout on her own. It was a long process, but thankfully all is ok. We did change her feed, she went onto Winergy Equilibrium Growth, this has done wonders for putting weight on and not tied up since "Touches Wood".

I sympathise too, my mare got kicked last year and had to be on box rest for nearly 5 months after having part of her splint bone removed. She is a bit of a madam at the best of times. We found we had to give her ACP from the vet upon ocassion. If your horse is in any danger of hurting herself then it might be worth getting some/speaking to the vet as the dose can be varied and given over the week to just take the edge off. We also and hung several lickits up to keep her occupied but I guess you would have to check with the vet as to whether the ingredients are ok. Good luck, I know how it feels but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel :0)
