I have spoken to the welfare officer of the BHS for our county, AND NOW I KNOW HOW AMERSHAM HAPPENED!
The land is in the hands of the receiver, no-one knows who ownes the horses. They have been there since the summer and are being monitored by the welfare officers contact in the area. They have access to water by means of a stream.
These horses are incredibly thin, Icould count their ribs through their winter coats, their hip bones look like the hook bones on a cow. They have eaten the privet bare. They had foals on late. Their backs are like razors and their back ends are concave. HOW MUCH MORE MONITORING DO THEY NEED?
I am now steaming and will continue to hassle every welfare charity I can find.
Thanks to the HHO members who are also going to look at and report these animals, I think we may be in for a fight.

How frustrating for you. Trading Standards have been suggested as a good contact in other posts, is it worth trying them? What about getting a local paper involved, maybe letting them have some pictures? Good luck, wish I was near enough to offer more help.

Bloody well done Yorks. I agree it would be a good idea to get the press involved, especially as Amersham is still in peoples minds - maybe it could even make TV which is all the better for our cause.

Dont give up, please!
have you contacted the ILPH? They are usually very reliable.
if you can get the local press involved too.

I just hope something is sorted out before I get a chance to go check them out, would break my heart knowing what condition they are in, that they have been known about yet have been there for yet another week! Poor ponies.

Does anyone locally know who is handling the receivership? If you could get in touch with them they may allow the release of these animals to a charity temporarily if they cannot prove they are an asset of the landowner.
