As requested, thought i would let those who were interested, know how Darcy is getting on since my last post about her growling at my daughter.

Well, went to argos, bought a gate, sorted her out a bed of her own in the kitchen, shes no longer allowed on the bed or sofa (however, now jumps the gate when we are out and lies on the sofa, so to remedy this, i put the gate higher up, only to find her still in but my basset on the sofa- he got under the gate)

Anyway, daughter is feeding her and understands that she must leave darcy alone when she's on her bed and we have had a lovely problem free time. i was putting her muzzle on (the dogs not the daughters

) but we found that, as she was on bed, she didnt need it.

Its early days but i feel a lot happier, we all do. So thanks to all those who advised me, it helped a lot!

Well done for working out ways to help her fit in. Was she an ex racer? I think they do amazingly well considering they have no experience of home life.

Been following Darcy's progress and I'm so happy that she seems to be settling now. Well done your little daughter too for not badgering her now - I'm sure having her feed Darcy will have helped enormously.

Thanks everyone.

Yes Oneofthepack, she is an ex racer.

KJJ, got a kiddie one (material, how stupid as basset chewed it)! Didnt think about a doggie one but, have now sorted it with thanks to the ironing board to stop her getting on sofa!

Glad things are going well for your new hound. These dogs give you so much back in return once they settle into a home life. They are the most loving, fabulous natured dogs who deserve so much more than they get.
