Hi All
I just thought I would thank you all again for your very helpful replies. And, update you!

The horse is now much better, more settled and hacking out daily with me. No signs at all of bucking. He is scared of lorries and vans coming from behind but that's about it. I can handle that. he is schooling nicely in the field before hacking.

I am so pleased I persevered and got expert help in, but most of all, got back on myself, took deep breaths and rode him and then carried on riding him. Having never lost confidence before, this was a wake up call for me. Now riding with body protector and high Viz and all is going very well.
I know it is early days but i am much more a happy bunny, and much less sore, than I was when i last posted.
So to everyone out there who lost confidence / had a fall, there is a way through and you can do it, believe in yourself and keep cool and calm.
Thanks again for the lovely replies to my previous post.

Congratulations! I had the same thing with my horse and although it has taken alot longer (nearly 5 months) im finally enjoying him now too. Glad you turned it around so quick.

Great, that is good news. It is so hard when a horse is very unsettled after a move. My first horse was a nightmare for 18 months (broken arm, kicked in to hedge bottom, broken nose, knocked out - all in first 6 months!) - but i loved her & we had 20 happy years togther. The next horse settled on the very day she arrived & hardly gave a days grief!

Great news! He seems to have settled and got to know you a bit more now.

Try to be patient with him, as horses never know what will be at the end of a ramp when travelling and a whole new life change is bound to affect them.

Also, don't expect him to buck again, hard as it is I really think as long as you're ready for it but not expecting, you can forgive him one early mistake?

Good luck with him - got any pics you can share? :)

Thank you! No photos as of yet, been so busy with boys off school etc. I will try to get some before too long. And yes, I have largely forgiven him for bucking me... he was just being a horse I guess.
