The skinny old new mare had her first lot of treatment today-and wow what an improvement already!

The EDT was here almost 2 1/2 hours ensuring that he did all that he could. He was very good with her, doing no more than a few minutes work with her before closing the gag, giving her plenty of chill out time etc and she coped remarkably well.

The back teeth that are so long have been reduced by about 10mm so far, she still has a lot more to come off

but up until this morning she was living on mashes, hay would just come out of her mouth in balls, she'd throw her head around whilst eating, ears back, feed falling out....tonight she's eating hay, and also had a handful of senior conditioning mix and a handful of Alfa A Oil and ate it with no problems whatsoever!

So I'm gradually switching her over onto 2kg Spillers Senior Conditioning Mix and 2kg Alfa A Oil, split over 4 feeds.

Victoria-here's what was put on her dental record:

Incisors: Very worn

Canine/Wolf: None

No.1 (Right Maxillary) Sharp buccal enamel points & Rostral hooks (both boxes ticked) 106 wave 111 very high. Plan/treatment: reduced by half

No.2 (Right Maxillary) Sharp buccal enamel points & Rostral hooks (both boxes ticked)206 wave 211 very high.
Plan/treatment: reduced by half

No.3 (Right mandibular) Sharp lingle enamel points wave complex (I think-dodgy writing lol)
Plan/treatment: reduced

No.4 (Right mandibular) Sharp lingle enamel points wave complex (again-I think lol)
Plan/treatment: reduced

Then a dental chart with corresponding numbers and his 'drawings'

She has sores inside her cheeks from the sharp teeth but is being a very brave girl.

Our next appointment is a few weeks away, and I'm sure with the difference the treatment so far has made she'll have come on in leaps and bounds.

He asked me to keep him updated so I'm giving her a couple of days to become accustomed to her 'new and improved' mouth then emailing him a progress report, he took pictures too so I will ask him to send them to me as I didn't get a good look like hubby did (he was on holding duty) and I'll forward them onto you Victoria as I know you said you'd be interested in seeing them.
