Well I bought a new saddle last Thursday and have tested it out over the weekend.
I got one of the new Thorowgood T4 cob saddles from a local tack shop. They were really helpfull and spent a lot to time making sure it fit her properly etc. so that helped me immensely as she is the first horse I have ever owned and I am a bit of a numpty. They have also told me to take her back in 8 weeks and they will re-check it for me.
Anyway, I had a good ride in it on Friday evening and did a little bit of jumping and it was so good. Then hacked out in it on both Saturday and Sunday and was most impressed.
The main thing is that this saddle seems to make me sit better if that makes any sense. I seem to naturally sit much straighter and my leg is in a better position, I also feel like I am sitting deeper which makes me feel much more secure. Even when like on Sunday my lovely little coblet spooked whilst hacking and just sat almost glued to the saddle.
This has been a revelation for me and I know I probably sound like some kind of moron but I never realised that a good saddle would make such a difference.
Being so old before owning my first horse I sometimes feel shy of asking "stupid questions" and I doubt my ability all the time so anything that helps me feel better is just great.
