Well I have tried 3 different bales now, and Marnie still isn't eating hay, she is eating hard feed (chaff and fibre cubes) and haylege but turns her nose up at hay. We have tried a couple of other horses with the hay and they will eat it, so I don't think there is anything wrong with it, it smells fine and isn't dusty. I've been borrowing haylege from the YO and am going to buy some - bit of a nightmare as I now have 20 'jumbales' (about 4 normal bales each) which she won't eat! She isn't usually fussy and will pick up the mankiest looking hay from around the yard and eat it!
I've got the vet coming out on Friday to take bloods as she has been quiet under saddle for the last few weeks, so for peace of mind just want to check there is nothing else going on. We did have a virus in the yard and although she didn't appear to be affected, I wonder if she actually has been.
Thanks for the tips and advice before
