Have been posting for a while about my bloated horse. The vet is coming out this week-end for his annual shots & anti biotics & blood test.

He's been wormed again, will have another lot in 3 weeks. I feel he is getting over his huge bout of heaves he had about 3 months ago.

Pics i posted about 6 weeks ago :

pic from today :

he is now out 24/7 so he can get over his heaves.

It's good to hear you share the same view as me I wasn't sure whether it was in my head or not. I think he looks better.

His winter coat is growing back ! the last few days have been awful.

Agree that he looks a lot better :-)

What did you do re: worming?

He looks a bit less skinny too - turn out obviously suiting him :-)

He won't build muscle without exercise but perhaps consult with the vet about what he can do that is non-ridden exercise?

The turn out (espec. if slightly hilly) will help but might you be able to go for walks in hand/long rein too?

ETS I'm assuming it is ridden work he can't do atm?

I wormed him again with a general wormer and also again with just a tape worm one.

Yep - h'es out 24/7 now, letting him have a long holiday to get over his heaves this winter.
The bloated-ness could also have been stomach fluid apprently..

I'm not doing anything with him at all atm. Vet is coming this week-end for annual shots, blood test and anti biotics if I can get both shots and anti biotics at the same time. Will have to call him out again if not. If all goes well he will be back in ridden work in about a month.

add - have also bought him some herbs that I received today for digestion/breathing so hope that will help his recovery too :)
