Just another quick update on poorly horse at our yard. He is still in the vets on intensive care. Still unable to eat and drink. The ulcers have spread into his stomach as well as his mouth and throat. Every test imaginable has been run with no luck. They think he has eaten something toxic but the field has Bern checked with a fine tooth comb. They are now wondering if something in the haylage caused it. I was told this morning the owner had maxed out her insurance now and with no signs of improvement everything is looking a bit uncertain. Pleas send vibes hoping he turns the corner soon.

Lots of vibes for him. Poor chap, he must be feeling rotten.
Hope they find out what it is very soon, and he's on the the mend.

Lots of vibes, for him.

I have had a same thing happen to me, as in to me not horse. I fed three horses some haylage over a week and ended up in hospital, as I had what they called cemical burns from my wrists to my elbows, from the haylage. I had to have 2 weeks off work, antibiotics and loads of different creams until it cleared up!!!!

I do hope they found out whats wrong with your friends horse.

OMG - what a nightmare situation for your friend to be faced with

iv not read the first post so i will go and have a look.
p.s horses can get botulism poisening from haylage, just a thought

just read your original post, have they ruled out grass sickness do you know?? my friends horse had the same symptoms and went down hill very quickly, they didnt realise it was grass sickness till it was to late and he unfortunatly had to be put to sleep. i dont think it is easily recognised either.
