update on rescue pony

So the "naughty" little pony im helping to brake in had the back person come to see her, i was hoping she was going to say it was just her saddle that was making her buck.

however it seems that her spine is totally twisted! she said its going to take a long time to put right, but pony is lucky she has age on her side, so only extreamly light lunging and taking for walks from now on. poor pony i dread to think what she went to before she found her new loving owner

why does the road to recovery have to always be so long

I am assuming she doesn't mean her spine is actually twisted as I wouldn't think any animal could actually move if that was the case. I am guessing she means the muscles are tight/knotted maybe following an old accident or something?
