I did a post not long ago about Roxy the rescue Rottie who had protein losing enteropathy. Dreadful diarrhoea, lost a lot of weight, was given a life expectancy of 2-3 months. PLE is the same thing that claimed Catembi, despite an avalanche of determined vet treatment, so I knew it was v serious. She was put on steroids (as was Catembi) & continued with the diarrhoea & losing weight (as did Cat). I did a thread on here asking about alternative gastro foods as she wasn't that keen on Royal Canin, & I switched to Purina & also got her lots of high protein, low fat snacks from a recommended site. O/h was also cooking chicken for her to try to tempt her.

Anyway, there was no change at all for several weeks, not looking good, and we were wondering when we should call it a day... Relentless diarrhoea, patchy appetite, looking very gaunt. We could see all her ribs & her spine & hip bones, & we were taking her on shorter & shorter mini-walks as she could hardly go any distance... I was really questioning whether we were doing the right thing in keeping her going. And then one day her poo started to look half way normal. Cat did this too & then always relapsed, so I didn't get my hopes up. But then the next day it was the same, then slightly more normal...and all of a sudden she turned the corner. Appetite increased hugely, poo 100% normal, cheeky character back, has started howling like a wolf again when excited (food or walks). She has now put back pretty much all the weight, and we are tapering off the steroids. You would now not realise that there had ever been anything wrong with her, except for the shaved patches from bloods & scans.

After the harrowing experience with Cat, this was the last thing I was expecting. The miraculous recovery couldn't have happened to a nicer dog though - she is such a cheerful thing & remained cheerful throughout the whole ordeal. I haven't wanted to post an update in case I jinxed it, but she is now 100% fine and has been for a few weeks. I simply can't believe our luck. She will be 9 any day and is as playful and fun as a young dog. I really don't understand how we got so lucky and am so incredibly grateful that we have.

Pointless post really, but I just wanted to share in case anyone who had commented on my last post was wondering about her.

That is amazing. I know nothing about the illness she had - is it something triggered by a virus or something? Or genetic? Really huge well done to you and what a lucky girl.
