Update on Rusky's mystery illness

I haven't heard back from the specialist vet yet (I assume it will take quite a while to look at all the options) but R has been in the hay field and back in work (very slowly, started with 15 minutes in walk and have been adding 5 minutes every other day) for two weeks now and he seems a bit better. He has perked up a bit and he is putting on weight which will also hopefully turn into muscle. I don't want to jinx this but perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel.

That's good to read :D.

I haven't had any advice to offer but have been watching for your updates. As it's the only thing I can do I'm sending vibes for continued improvement

Best thing I have read in ages. Will keep fingers crossed for him and I hope he is still improving.

Thank you FF and everyone.

He's been back in work for six weeks now, all in hand, some lunge work (as I can't run with him when he trots!). He's only stumbled once in week one, other than that he's been really good. On Sunday I had a little sit on him and he was perfectly behaved and did not do the weird hind leg collapse that started it all.

In the middle of all this another horse came up positive for Leptospirosis, so all were checked, R and Cakey have it, so everyone is getting antibiotics. On top of that the other horse was positive for redworm. R had a positive fecal test for redworm 2 months ago so everyone was wormed, poo picked, etc. re-tested 3 weeks later all clear, then 4 weeks later this other horse shows a very heavy burden which is really odd. I have re-wormed everyone and I am picking up poo religiously to see if we can't get to the bottom of this but I could do with a little break!

This week with the antibiotics I am giving him a bit of time off and hopefully I can get back on next week. I'll try and post some photos as I think he looks a bit better - not a lot better but I think it will take a very long time before we see if he can recover.
