Well it def is!!!
I can only think that he got a bruise through his pads, maybe from a stone & an absess developed from there.
Friday night I got some brown'ish stuff out. The same saturday morning & evening. Then Sunday morning it was more yellow'ish & def a smell.

It was the same Sunday night & this morning, although not as much coming out this morning.
I'm going to continue to hot poultice twice a day until it stops & then hopefully we can get a shoe back on & get back to normal..... or whatever is normal for my horses!

Anyone any thoughts on how long it's likely to take to get it all out?? (I know it might be how long is a piece of string scenario!) I'm feeling much happier now I know what made him lame & that he now seems sound.

Glad its an absess thought of you all weekend, Clover used to take 4 -5 days of hot poltices (once clear) and then one day of cold to double check and the he would put the shoe back on. the farrier was out ever thurs so occasionally i aould cold poloce a couple of extra days till he came out,

Fingers crossed

The last horse that I hot poulticed was poulticed for about a week before it stopped oozing gunk. I suppose it depends on how long the abcess has been there for and how nasty it is. It shouldn't take too long though.
