Well I can finally have a nights sleep without worrying about what was going to be the outcome of todays vet visit.
The RJ bandage (aka hoofing great elbow to hoof) was removed and I walked him out of his stable and considering he decided to re arrange his entire armpit he was sound so the vet is happy that there is no fracture to his leg in fact Squirt decided to bounce about like a complete nit.
The stitches are holding and the horrendous wound is looking ok, as ok as an 8" long 6" deep monstrosity can look.
Having been cross tied for 2 1/2 days he was very pleased to be free in his house and proceeded to charge about and roll although he decided that it was too painful on the sore side and got back up, at one point as I was skipping him out he cantered round me so out came the ACP and he is now much more mellow and less full on.
The gas that has been caught under his skin is horrible and feels like he has crepe paper under his coat and is in a huge area from behind his shoulder to three quarters of the way up his neck but I'm reliably informed this will disappear although will be sore for him.
Now for two weeks box rest to start with and if I'm brave enough a short walk each day!
