Vet came out first thing this morning as the swelling just keeps increasing.
He scanned the leg and confirmed there is an area of interferance with one of the tendons but he's not sure which one yet, there may also be deeper injury to the tendon but again he's not sure as it's not an area that commonly gets injured apparently (think he said Gascol tendon?).
Stitch is in a lot less pain but his hock is huge and boiling hot, there is now a yellow discharge oozing from the wound.
Bless he had his leg clipped and scanned without sedation and had his first encounter with the cold hose today and he was perfectly behaved.
The vet is coming back tomorrow to xray the leg to see if there is a pellet in there, or any other foreign body.
The girls at the yard are being excellent and even offered to have a car boot sale in aid of Stitch to help me pay for his treatment. The YO also being really good and had chat with vet to ask if there was anything they could do to prevent any further injuries - none of this could have been prevented by them, which the vet confirmed e.g. vet checked the fencing (in his own time) and gave it the thumbs up.
It's lovely being somewhere where everyone cares!
More fingers and toes crossed for tomorrow please.

fingers crossed that he makes a speedy recovery, your yard sounds like a lovely place

Fingers crossed for all your troubles to go away. Your horse wasn't bitten was he? Like by a dog? I am sending some healing <<<<<vibes>>>>> for him too. Get well soon Stitch.

The wound is only about 7.5mm long and there is just one so a bite isn't likely but still wouldn't rule it out. The filling in the point of hock has gone down a little this morning but the swelling in his leg looks the same, he is bright as a button though and eating much better now so hopefully we;ve turned a corner.
