Firstly apologies for being the world's worst at replying to PMs
I'm very sorry. I've had a few asking for an update on "the grey" so thought I'd just post the reply.
If you've been lucky enough to miss my previous posts basically my heart ruled my head and I bought Rocco, a 16.3hh then 6yo TB gelding, in March of this year. I lost my arab mare in Feb and wasn't looking for anything else as have another TB. However my friend was horse shopping and I went on viewings with her. When she decided not to buy R I couldn't forget him and that was how he came to be here!
It wasn't easy as his behaviour was really bad when I got him home and he's the first horse ever that I thought was going to end up seriously injuring (killing!) me. He was totally different to the horse I thought I'd bought.
We were getting there a little bit and then he had an accident in the field (he kicked himself, I seen it happen) so 10wks of box rest followed - not fun!!
We've moved yard and now rent our own land and stables. Much better not having idiot YOs and the likes. Rocco chilled out a fair bit just living the quiet life as it's only me and my mum at the stables.
I was accepted onto a course in Oxford to train in McTimoney-Corley so I decided to sell Rocco. I have to be away a weekend every month and because of his behaviour my mum refused to handle him, couldn't blame her, so I was stuck. I advertised him at 3750 which I thought was fair as he wasn't fit and had had time off with his leg, he cribs and was open to vettings.
I got a load of time wasters and finally the ideal new mum rocked up. Well that night he decided to be the biggest @rsehole ever! He planted himself with her then when I went to lead him he started bucking. I got back on and he started backing up at 100mph and when that didn't work was having a major paddy and attempting to throw himself on the ground. I thought he was going to break my leg. Funnily enough she didn't buy him!!!
I had the McT-C lady I use out to him, he's had his teeth done and he's getting the small sarcoid on his neck treated. His work has been pretty inconsistant as I don't have a school so due to the weather working in a grass arena isn't always safe. We've done mainly long reining but it's been stop start with the weather and holidays. I went on a week's holiday and I've started my course and Rocco has been a star. The olds have handled him with no bother at all
Even the vet he savaged when she was treating his leg couldn't believe the change when she was out this week to treat the sarcoid. She wanted him twitched before she went in the stable and was putting her hard on when mum convinced her to give him a chance and he was a star! Previously when I phoned up about AI for my QH the vet nurse was horrified that I was breeding from "the devil horse" I reassured her that he was a gelding and was mortified at our reputation
)
So basically that was a lot about nothing because we've done nothing but we are getting there! his behaviour has improved, mum has agreed to let him stay and look after him while I'm away <happy dance> and he's looking fab. Just waiting for sarcoid treatment to finish, and hopefully work, and then it's onwards and upwards!
Cookies of you got this far!
Some pics of him to see how he's changed.
The day he arrived
First time in the school
mucking around

His leg injury
happy face to greet me for bandage changes
Happier in his new home
