Update on tiny tot riding 'problem' and strong Shetland...

Hi All

Firstly, thank you to everyone who was kind enough to give me advice when I posted last week about my daughter & the little Shetland we have for her to ride...

...in typical fashion the little pony has tried to prove me a complete liar this weekend when she let my daughter catch her & lead her all the way to the yard and only trotted a few strides to try to eat the ducks bread!!!!! She wasn't strong and my daughter managed to get her walking nicely the whole way - just to prove me wrong I guess!!! Lol!

Anyway, I got a Dually headcollar last week and used it this weekend - she was so much better it was like a miracle cure! And my daughter rode a whole mile on her without wanting to get off and felt very safe & secure - she was singing along and had nobody holding her :)

Words can not describe how proud (and surprised!) I am!

So, Strawberry is staying for the time being and hopefully we'll all continue to improve over the coming weeks...

So good to hear that your little un has discovered some manners after all!

The pic is so cute, just watch out when leading that the cheekpieces of the bridle and headcollar aren't rubbing Strawberry's eye - looks a bit close in the photo. They'll only put up with that for so long, and it would be a shame to let a little thing like that mess up what looks like a lovely time for everyone.

Now that's what horsey fun should be. Well done Strawberry, and well done Mum for following your gut instinct about what a lovely little pony you have. Just a few niggles to iron out. :) xxx

Yes I will be careful of that - I didn't notice it rubbing her eye though unless she was starting trying to pull a little bit in these pictures...?

Thanks! We're by no means 'there' yet but I at least have hope that Strawberry can do the job she was intended to do and hopefully my little girl will end up loving horses as much as I do!

They're Ariat Bromonts - comfiest things I've ever had on my feet (once they dropped - until that point I used to wear the zip only half done up and had to lengthen my stirrups otherwise they cut my circulation off!) :D
 
Sometimes we have to let things fix themselves and stop worrying and somehow it just all works, maybe its cos we suddenly relax. Bless them
