We've been walking as normal since I posted last really - uni work and illness have limited what I've been able to do! :o However we did meet a guy who had three Spingers who was willing to let me stand and talk to him and his dogs, who weren't at all bothered. Eventually - and I mean eventually - Roxy calmed down, until the dogs moved again and then it was square one.

Tonight, we went onto the field - me and Roxy and my boyfriend and our Goldie - I did half an hours work with her in a training class format with Misty doing the same things, heeling, standing, stay, sit, about, finish etc taking us all over the field and to be honest, with the exception of being a bit distracted she's on the whole very obedient and willing (with a bit of help from dried liver!).
A Labrador came on and she had one of her episodes :rolleyes:so we did a large circle and walked "with" it, but a far distance from it, and she barked so I circled back and walked a bit further away and although she grumbled and wanted to keep an eye on it, she didn't throw herself around like an idiot.

We did the large circles with people too and she didn't bother once with people.
As we left the field a large rottie was coming towards us (narrow alleyway) so we turned back and redid the circle work - the third time we walked 'past' the dog, she didn't bother at all. I am so pleased with her tonight!
Of course, tomorrow might be a different kettle of fish!

She is off to hydro with Misty on Saturday to play with her boyfriend and another GSD. I'm feeling more hopeful tonight that we can do this and get it out of her :)

People were on the whole very accepting of her behaviour tonight once I'd explained (shouted over the barking...:o) that she was training, so I'm very pleased with my pretty little girl!
Thank you for all your advice, I will keep you updated. We're hoping that age is on her side and I would really love to try her paw at agility once her behaviour is acceptable - she is so agile it's unbelievable!

It's a shame youre not closer or you could borrow Yellow Dog. He just stands there and looks offended when other dogs bark at him before turning on the puppy dog eyes and they normally cave in and start playing with him :D

Sounds like you are making great progress, keep up the good work :)
Same with my young dog, he tends to remain quite neutral if other dogs gob off at him...despite being quite gobby himself :p

Haha, if you were both closer I'd snatch your hands (and paws!) off! That's just the kind of offer she needs, thank you anyway! :o

Thanks Booboos, I'm very proud of her tonight. She's flat out on her back, paws in the air at the moment

I don't want to blow her (tiny :p) mind, so I think little and often for now and just ease into it. We have hopefully found a new training class (with her boyfriend, no less!!) where they are happy to work with reactive dogs, so in time that will be a possibility :)
