After humming and harring for ever about what to do with my youngster for riding away, I eventually asked my instructor to ride him 4x a week, and I'd have a lesson on the fifth time.
He's had 2 weeks of lessons and he is doing *brilliantly* Definitely one of the best decisions I've made recently! And he is progressing so quickly.
Last week I was on holiday, so I got to watch most of his lessons and take some (pretty bad) photos. (they are so blurry as they are from my phone, and I was at the opposite end of the arena :/ )
From 04 Aug:
Walk:
Trot:
Halt:
Then from 07 Aug:
Trot:
Canter:
Bending/yielding exercises:
I had a short lesson on Saturday, my first lesson since Easter, and only my second sit on since I fell off him. He feels so amazing (and I did nothing but walk about), so light in the mouth and responsive. He is really going to improve my riding!
So far he's done w/t/c, rein back, shoulder fore, leg yielding (along the fence line and on a circle), flexions at halt and walk.
I saw him improve so much in just the last week I can't believe it (and yes, I'm gushing... sorry!) really can't wait to see how he continues to improve over the next few weeks
