Update (or lack of it) on missing Siamese - anything more I can do?

Or is it just a case of sitting and waiting? It's been three days now and not a sign of her. I've called and looked and called again, and checked the house, barns, sides of roads. Called on neighbours, had some posters printed which I've delivered to houses and businesses. I've rung the police (who thought I was quite mad, but then I had had 2 glasses of vino!), rung the RSPCA, local cat rescue farm, spoken to vets in local area and sent them posters. She's registered as missing on the National Pet Register. I really cant think what else I can do. Anyone any bright ideas?

It's the not knowing what's hapened to her that is eating me up. If I knew the worst had happened, then I could get on with it. But I dont. I come back from work and pray the food I've put out for her has gone and that she's in the house all curled up on her bed. But nothing.

Sorry - just finding this so difficult.

is she microchipped? Big hugs, it must be very upsetting not knowing where she is. My friends cat did this, just disappeared one day. When she didn't return they done all the usual things then with no news had to assume the worst. About 3 years later the cat reappeared out of the blue looking for dinner, they had to get photo's out to check it was the same cat! She's still with them now, no one knows where her travels took her but she made her way back in the end! Looking rather healthy I may add!
 
I feel very very sorry for you as I've had my own cats go missing for days.

Have you tried hanging a nice smelly piece of your clothing or bedding outside so the scent is there for her?

Hope she's back soon - I'm sure she's just making her feelings known and will be back.

Sounds like you have done a great job getting the word out that you have lost her, but you could also try putting your poster in your car window, and and other local relatives/ friends car windows.

one other thing you can do is speak to your local roadsweepers.I know this sounds horrid but they often have to clean up dead pets from the road and they don't report them to the police so this may well be a good way to find out if there is any possibility she has been ran over.
I lost a cat when I was in hospital giving birth to my youngest child and my hubby spent hours looking for him.He found out he had been ran over after someone told him to talk to the road sweepers.They were able to tell him that they had found a dead cat in the road that fitted his description.
Fingers crossed this will not be the case with your cat but at least you will know one way or the other if they have come across your cat.
 
Oh no!

We have always had siamese cats and i cant imagine how devestated you must be, they are such characters. I also know that they are hopeless at trying to be normal cats and get themselves into all sorts of trouble. They also cant cope with any sort of cold or rain

Have you been looking for her? Our siamese is a bugger for getting stuck up trees. He thinks he can climb but then he realises he cant and will just sit there and wail untill someone comes to rescue him. I would scan the mile radius around your house, any trees she can get stuck up? Holes she can get stuck in? I know its a bit impossible and you'll look crazy wandering the streets calling her name but you never know. Siamese dont tend to stray too far from home...

Someone could also have picked her up and taken her home

Really sorry to hear about your cat. It must be absolutely gutting. It has happened to me before when we had only had my cat 8 days, but he came back when it got dark.

I know you have searched high and low, but there may be a really small hiding place which she could have gone into - underneath a palette, behind something where you don't think the gap is large enough etc. Also, do you have hay and straw bales? They sometimes go right deep inside the stack to hide/keep warm.

Best of luck looking for her. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending.
 
I'm so sorry she's not back yet. I've been in this position a couple of times and I know how heart wrenching it is.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can, although I agree with Spike that it would be worth talking to the roadsweepers (hopefully just to put your mind at rest that they didn't pick her up). The only other thing I'd suggest is maybe widening the field of search a bit if you haven't already.

I've been thinking about you and was really hoping she was home by now. I'll still be keeping my fingers crossed,
 
Gosh i know what your going through.

We had a siamese cat that went missing one day in the summer. We did the same looked for him, called local vets, rspca, put loads of posters up everywhere in the area.
We had a couple of calls and couldn't find him.
Month goes by and we get a call from someone who actually was only a few roads away. There he was spotted out the back of their garden. Poor thing was skinny, sore paws and sun burnt ears. We took him to the vets for a check over and he was fine apart from needing food and to heal.

I know its that not knowing that is the worst.

But please do not give up faith (((hugs)))

One of my cats went missing, thought the worst as it was November. On bonfire night I felt ill with worry the worst must have happened, or he must be terrified. Well!! ten days after he went missing at about 2.30 am I heard what I thought was a tom cat howling outside, I looked out the window to see and it was Ben, he had found his way home. He was a little thin and had a slug stuck to his side, but was he glad to be home. So don't give up hope!!!!!! The fact that yours is a breed, someone will take notice and hopefully take it in.

It sounds like you've got all the bases covered. The only other thing I can think to suggest is to ask neighbours to check their outbuildings. Could she have got herself shut in a shed or garage? One of ours got locked in a neighbours garage before they went away on holiday. He had been missing for days and we only found him by walking up and down the street pressing our ears against garage doors. We must have looked pretty stupid, but we didn't care - we just wanted our cat back.

I really hope she turns up soon, it must be awful for you. As others have said, some disappear for ages before turning up again so please keep your chin up. I've got everything crossed for you xx

Definitely speak to neighbours in case she's managed to get stuck in somewhere. My cat did this, and promptly fell asleep in a box of old rags. Neighbours checked their garage and called, but said she wasn't there - she turned up 3 days later when they next used the garage.

The fact you haven't found her on the roads is a good sign. She's probably just wandered off too far, or convinced the local "mad cat lady" that she's starving and needs rescuing.

How far away have you checked? When mine was missing, we checked as far as we thought she may have gone. It was a local community, and word spread....turned out she'd been regularly visiting well over a mile away!

Do you have a cat flap? If so, is it one you can lock? It might be worth setting it to "in only" - just in case she's popping back during the day and scarpering again before you get home.

Agree that at least talking to the roadsweeper would put your mind at rest. After that, the most likely explanation is that she has got shut in somewhere - when you spoke to your neighbours, did you ask them all to check every closed door they could think of? Were any of your neighbours not in? Also, remember when you are out shouting for her to stop and listen too!

We've had several cats disappear over the years. One never turned up, but most were in a neighbour's garage! What about your insurance? Most policies include something for looking for a lost cat. This might be extreme (I don't even know if it's possible) but could a scent-hound follow her trail? I've no idea if this can be done privately (and I'd imagine the police wouldn't be keen on using their resources on this...) but it might be something that would be covered by insurance?

Also does she recognise any sounds - eg ours love the whiskas crunchies and come running when they hear the tub being rattled. Take something out with you that she might recognise - both sound and smell, if possible.

I really really hope she comes home soon, to a stern telling off from HHO for putting you through this

Contact or google 'petsearch'. They are a chairty local to us but have been re uniting people with lost pets nationally for some time I believe.

If it's any consolation, my choc point girl came from a home where they decided two Springer puppies were also a good idea so she packed her bags and left for a month in disgust! When she came back of her own accord they put her up for re homing (nice people NOT) but she came to live with me so landed on her feet in the end.

So hope you find her, know exactly what you must be going through (((hugs)))
 
Hi Tigger, contact Cheryl-Anne Jenkins at chapelhouse-persians.co.uk, she rescues pedigree cats and there is nothing this woman does not know about finding a lost cat. In fact, at home I have living proof, one of my little persians was let out by her previous owners and got lost: she spent 6 months on the streets of Wolverhampton before Cheryl-Anne managed to find her, near death and seriously malnourished. You have my total sympathy, and I wish you all the luck: don't give up hope.
 
Oh poor you, its so awful not knowing where they are and if they are OK. My old cat Freddie disappeared for 2 weeks and turned up staggering with hunger, but fine. I have no idea where she had been but was frantic with worry.

I agree with widening the search though - I was once in my car and passed my male cat making his way back from the local village (about 2 MILES from home). I stopped the car and he was delighted to see me and hopped in the car - he was such a character!)

can you leaftlet all houses nearby and ask them to check outbuildings, garden sheds etc. Since she went missing on Saturday its more than possible someone could have been outside doing some gardening and she could have slipped into the shed (although I would have thought anyone would hear an indignant siamese to be honest)

Do so hope your cat has come back, but dont give up there is still time for her to show up
 
I have been checking the posts wondering if you would post again. I am so sorry you have not had any news but don`t give up hope its a relatively short time, maybe not to you. I agree with all the comments above particularly getting neighbours to check sheds etc. I have found spreading the word locally is the best tool as if your cat is in the area sooner or later someone will see her. I take it she is not a old cat so her health is not a consideration. Well, here in Cornwall, we have wind and rain so if the weather changes with you lets hope your cat decides its time to head for home. Got my fingers crossed and do keep us updated.
 
Oh gosh I'm so sorry - I was hoping no news from you was good news. You sound like you are doing everything that you can. I'd agree with widening the search area, they can go miles. Admittedly Siamese don't tend to, but then you just never know. Thinking of you and really hoping you find her safe, soon.

Advertise in loacal papers, near us they don't charge for lost and found ads. Also, what about ringing local paper and ask them to run a story with picture and ask local radio station if they will broadcast for you. Fingers crossed she turns up.
 
Oh blimey I'm so overwhelmed by you all and all your hugs and kindness. Once again I walked back into an empty house tonight - and it's so upsetting. It's raining outside and cold, and I just hope she's cuddled up beside someone's lovely warm fire, and not out in the cold and wet. Just typing this is breaking my heart. I so want her to be safe. As long as she is, then that's all I want. I have been today and put notices outside schools and have phoned Petsearch and contacted Cheryl Jenkins for advice. Also rung a wider circle of vets too.

Thanks once again and I shall go and weep buckets into my spaghetti bol now. And of course keep you all posted.
 
try radios and local papers for advertising..and dont give up i lost a black cat when i was a kid luckily he had a collar on and he was missing for 3 weeks before he was found...in the pub of a town 10 miles away!!so defo widen the search area!he never went in a car before or after this but we reckon that has to be how he got so far away!!Seconding the schools poster idea to...Kids are way more observent than adults and are more likely to notice an unusual looking cat!
