Hi all

So after my previous thread (see link http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=483673 ) i thought i would have a little look on a few horse share sites, wasn't really expecting to find too much and was thinking it would take me quite a long time to find a suitable horse to share.

Came across a suitable advert however, nice schoolmaster type stating in the ad suitible for someone like me and good to do everything with. Little bit far away but on full loan so wouldn't have to do stable duties (wouldn't normally mind but an hours drive in traffic would make that a bit of a nightmare mornings!). So been in contact with owner and oh my am going to try out said horse on Monday! EEEEK!

So....quite nervous i'm going to be totally useless/make a fool out of myself. Also thinking of course it is likely it may not work out for whatever reason, who knows if the horse is actually totally fine or not (many a few stories i've read on here!), but it could possibly turn out to be lovely. :)

So any advice at all really. Have just got BHS gold membership for the insurance. Will definatly not get on the horse until seen the owner ride it but i suppose if all seems well when they ride i shall have to get on and hope for the best :p

Unfortunatly on salad on offer :D thanks all!

Think positively :) but don't go with rose tinted specs,
Come across as friendly, but remember to ask the vital questions :)
use your common sense!

and you'll be fine! good luck, hope everything goes well :) photos if it does!!

il pass on the salad :( sick of the stuff... stupid diet.. hmm on second thoughts.. salad it is!!

My advice would be to try the horse several times before you commit to anything and in particular try it the way you will be sharing IYSWIM. If you will be going to the yard alone, make sure you do that more than once so you can see horse as it really is, how it handles etc when owner is not around.

Sounds promising anyway, good luck!

Sportyspots - thats odd, havn't had any come through other than the first one  ! I was wondering if mine sent, i sent one back after the first PM? Maybe try again as i have had other come through the past few days. Failing that could try my email - hfm101@hotmail.com

MrVelvet - Yes, keep telling myself to not get carried away at all and if horse isn't right will have to be honest. Sure i will mess up on the questionside though! will have to start writing some down now as i know my mind will go blank when i get there until i'm on my way home!

Wobblywibble - yes will definatly want a trial period, sure the owner will as well :)

Oooops  just noticed my inbox on here, sorry! Did email correct address though beginning of week. Anyway decided to be sensible and follow peoples advice on here and not get that horse but have pm ed you. Good luck with this one, although would have thought in this area something would have been closer, practically every other house between where I live and where I keep the horses (not excatly walking distance) keeps horses.
Fingers crossed it all goes well :D:D
