Update, pup and house training

Some dogs eat their own some eat other dogs some eat both.
It can cause diarrhoea, bacterial over growth and is generally not good for them. It is a hard habit to break unfortunately and even though some people think it's a natural behaviour it is very unpleasant.
Don't make a big deal of her pooing in the house or if you catch her eating poo.
The bigger fuss you make the more likely it is she will do it when you are not looking.

We got our oldest Spinone at 11 months, she would eat our other two dogs poo, not her own, nothing we did stopped her, we were advised to distract her when she went to eat it. She only stopped when we changed her food to a raw diet, so maybe missing something in her diet? She still at 10 will occasionly eat something disgusting when out walking, but not the other dogs poo.

Pick up poo immediately, then she can't eat it.

Hoovering up all the fruit suggests she is hungry (or bored) What are you feeding her and how much? Can't you fence off the trees?

Smacking her is going to make her afraid of you and will exacerbate issues. Stop. Our lot were trained to allow us to put our hands right in their mouths without biting. I suggest you teach that. Also teach a strong 'leave it' command.

If she's eating things in the house, it's because she has access. Puppy proof the house, ensure everyone is on board with this. Items can't simply be left round. If she's a bright girl, she'll work out how to access things: don't allow this.

The toilet training will obviously be put back if she's had tummy troubles. Keep kaolin (from any pharmacy) in the house, the child version. Be patient, it will happen.

I echo the trainer: she's your first springer, you admit she's not your kind of dog and I think you're finding her hard work. A trainer will help if you get a decent one. Look for a gun dog type. Ask your local shoot for recommendations.
