So vet has been. He is sound on hard surface in straight line. Lunged on the hard standing and he couldnt see anything. Lunged in school and still nothing, until he was trying to trot more forwards, then he isnt quite right.
Vet poked all over back legs... nothing. Also pinchered hoof, he said he was a little sore with one nail, but not enough to be lame.

Sooo 10 days hacking out, and if no better he will go to vets for him to nerve block, and me ride him inbetween the nerve blocking.
He says he could have damaged the anular (think thats what he said?) ligaments behind the suspensory ligament, as this show in the same way. (Not very lame at first)

So has anyone else experienced anything like this? Also if it is the latter, how long will recovery take?

So so gutted at the minute, just cannot believe this horses bad luck, it has been one thing to another.

Hi there again,

Sorry to hear the vet couldn't magic an answer for you this afternoon. At least you are able to keep riding in the meantime.

I know there are a few folk on here who have dealt with annular ligament injuries, do a search for "annular ligament" on this site and a few threads pop up!

My mare's injury actually relates to the annular ligament, it's suspected to be enlarged due to an injury picked up last year and therefore pinches on the tendon sheath/tendons underneath.

Sadly the vet today agreed with me that it looks like it has flared up again (after 5months box rest last year, then a further 7months bringing slowly slowly back into work) and so we are back to horspital in the near future for scanning and then either a second attempt at steroid injection to the joint or operation to cut the annular ligament and so relieve the pressure on the tendon sheath/tendons.

You horse's injury doesn't sound as severe as mine, so hopefully if it is a similar thing, recovery should be weeks rather than months. It took so long last year as we tried loads of box rest in the first place before doing the scans/steroids.

Good luck.
