A big smile tonight. She's off the ventilator, breathing by herself and has been for about 3 hours. They can't promise she won't have to go back on but at the moment her oxygen levels are just fine. If they do feel she needs ventilating again they'll do a tracheotomy (sp?) so no more beastly tube

She seems quite aware but is (they think) possibly in pain as she's not very settled. They're reluctant to use powerful painkillers with too strong a sedative effect so is just on a huge amount of paracetamol at least for the time being.

I stayed at home today but James (son) is at the hospital and he says she opened her eyes a tiny bit and looked at him for a second. He says it's quite hard work sitting with her at the moment because she's quite lively but that he can handle it

I'm sure it will be 2 steps forwards and 1 back but for the time being we're very happy - thank you all xx

Yippee. So lovely to hear good news. Come on Rosie. You can do it.
What a relief for you all, you must all feel so much better tonight.
Prayers and good vibes continuing for her.

How wonderful - I hope she continues to progress as well as she has done and that the painkillers have the desired effect.

Thank you so much for updating us xx

that;s good news but it sounds all so scary, I don't know how you are being so strong

Thank you for the updates. Come on Rosie xx

That is wonderful news! I'm sure that she will be more comfortable even with a trachie than a tube, my father was on one for a while and it did hurt his throat at the time. Every step is a milestone, you must be all relaxing a little bit more. Thank you for the update, my thoughts and prayers still with you all, even though I don't know you. You are a very brave family.

I have been keeping up with the news and just want to say I am so relieved she appears to be on the mend and steadily going in the right direction. I hope the discomfort eases quickly and she continues to improve as she has done already. Thank you for the updates; we all appreciate the time you have taken to let us know how Rosie is 'first hand' and we are very relieved the reports have all been positive

Come on Rosie, the sun is out and shining

That is good news but I would rather she didn't have to get re ventilated because a tracheostamy means a hole in the neck. My brother has had to have this done twice.

I am praying that she stays strong and continue's to breath for herself.xxx

Dear Rosiefan,my daughter samantha used to do pony club wih Rosie, and she had a very bad accident just over a year ago, she was also in addenbrooks , she was in a coma for 2 weeks and it was touch and go, so I trully understand what you and your family are going through. I am so pleased to hear that she is of the ventilater. My thoughts and prayers are with you. My first thought when I heard about her accident was to come to see you all to offer my support, but I know that the only people you wish to have near are family. The staff ARE AMAZING , I used to be to frightened to go to Sam,s bedside as all the machines used to panic me,with all there bleeping and flashing, but the nurses would stand with me and cuddle me . Please dont essitate if you need my help in any way. I am only in Halstead. My love and best wishes to Paul, Karen, Rosie and family.
