I am looking for a 5-6.5t lorry to take 2 horses but they seem to be like hens teeth to find!

I've spotted a 4.2t Iveco which only gives 750kg of payload. This may be a completely stupid question but I've noticed some smaller lorries have been 'uprated' to provide more payload.

What does this involve and how practical is it?

Many thanks

Not my best subject but from the little I know it might involve uprating/changing the axle springs

What is the manufacturers design weights for it as it is ? - not the current VOSA plate as that is different

No, Ford won't allow it. I looked into it for my Iveco and it's a problem with the manufacturer who won't accept the changes. It's a real shame as there are companies that specialise in uprating.

Why would Ford need to say yes to it ?

If an uprate is done and VOSA approve it then DVLA will accept that .... yes?

At the time (about 4 years ago?) I spoke with two different companies that specialised in uprating and they both said they could not do Ford vehicles. I suspect Ford could refuse to produce a certificate of conformity for the vehicle which might be needed prior to inspection (I know I needed a CofC to register the truck in France so are needed some times)?
