This is a large part of why I left the practice I had been a receptionist at for 14yrs when it got bought out by a coperate.
that and having a warning for allowing a dog that had been hit by a car to receive treatment before I had got the owners details, the owner was a local vet receptionist known to us, she was assisting the vet in saving her dogs life, it was a Sunday and our on duty nurse was dealing with an animal recovering from GA so not free to assist.
Apparently I was supposed to refuse treatment until the dog had been fully registered so that consent could be signed, the vet was happy to proceed knowing the situation and swift action saved the dogs life and got the practice many good references.
